Work with me

During our sessions, I will listen carefully to who you are and the issues you bring. We will collaboratively find an approach that fits you and honours your uniqueness. I will create an accepting, supportive environment to explore the issues you bring to counselling so that change and inner balance will begin to arise from your own wisdom.

How many counselling or coaching sessions you may need will depend. Counselling can be undertaken on a short, mid or long term basis. It could be you feel better after 6-8 weekly sessions. Perhaps your issue is deep-seated and/or traumatic which warrants reparative support over a longer period of time, say 16-20 weekly sessions or more if necessary.

You may feel you need a short, sharp burst of more generative, dynamic support to help you over an obstacle that you feel is impeding the path to a goal. Perhaps a course of 4-6 monthly Coaching sessions is for you. Couples Counselling usually involves 6–12 weekly sessions. Whatever your needs are, I can tailor an approach specifically for you with no minimum requirements.

For individuals

Most people benefit from counselling at some point in their lives. Sometimes the signs are obvious such as feelings of grief after loss or bereavement.  At other times, you may feel slightly off kilter and can’t figure out what it is. You may trudge on, trying to sustain all the parts of your busy life until it sets in that life has become unmanageable.

You may begin to feel sad, angry and unable to cope.  You realise your inner conflicts are impacting your everyday life but there is no one to turn to and offload in a non-judgemental, confidential space.  This is the time to get support. Therapy can help you learn about what you’re feeling, why you might be feeling it and how to cope.

For couples

If your relationship has been in conflict for some time, you may feel resentful and apportion blame to the other person. You may feel betrayed and wonder how your relationship is going to survive despite you both having love for one another.  Counselling can help you and your partner learn ways to communicate positively.

This might involve changing how you interact with each other, how you spend time together and how you currently deal with specific issues as a couple.  The counselling process may require ‘homework’ to be completed outside your counselling sessions; this can take the form of listening exercises or completing a specific task together.

Perhaps you are in the early stages of your relationship and noticing a repeat of patterns that have surfaced in previous relationships.  Counselling can help you break these previous patterns so your current relationship is less likely to be conflicted further down the line.
